The holidays are a busy time of the year. It’s understandable to assume that real estate buyers are too busy to search for a new home, but that’s not always the case. December has often been one of our busiest months, and this year is no exception. We’re closing four homes this month, and helped a client secure a new-construction home that will be ready next year. Two of our listings went Pending in two days! We’re also working with several new buyers who want multi-generational homes, and a couple from California who are looking for their single level zen retreat.
We really enjoy touring homes this time of year. They come to life with suggestions of warm gatherings and celebration. In fact, smart sellers will take advantage of the season and showcase the entertainment potential of their rooms. For example, we recently toured a home with a covered outdoor patio with a fireplace. The fire was blazing and the chairs were draped with cozy throws conjuring up an evening of good conversation with family and friends. We wanted to stay and enjoy the atmosphere.
Certain scents and scenes can evoke emotions and that’s always the goal when selling homes. Why not make it easier, and list your home during the highly emotional holiday season? Lights aglow and tasteful displays of greenery tend to charm the grinch out of nearly everyone. A front porch with string lights, lanterns, and furry throws make buyers feel right at home. We’ve discovered less is often more when it comes to holiday decor.
